"Seamless"
Artist: Andrei Păcuraru (PAC)
Curator: Natan Dvir
April - May 2024
About the exhibition:
Andrei Păcuraru is on a relentless voyage toward the limits of what we consider (or see as) human. With a nod to Bauhaus principles and Andreas Feininger's technical and aesthetic precision, Păcuraru invites viewers into a realm where the artificial becomes almost organic. His eerie, futuristic images do not attempt to present the essence of the human experience, nor an ethereal or metaphysical sense of the world,
but rather explore the limits of our perception. Photographs of human-like mannequins through careful studies of light and shadow, texture, and
form, evoke a sense of unease, compelling observers to confront their perceptions of humanity and its imitations.
Against the backdrop of an increasingly AI-driven visual landscape, one cannot help but wonder how seen images are created, and if what we see is real.
In his appreciation of the medium's enduring power, Păcuraru stays dedicated to traditional photography, examines a human-less subject
matter meticulously, eliminates any sense of perspective, and challenges our understanding of the medium itself.
In Seamless, he invites us to peer beyond the surface, to discern the seems between reality and illusion, and to contemplate the essence of
what it means to be human.
