Receiving Exposure in the Art World
This two-part workshop explores how photographers and artists can build sustainable careers while navigating the global art world. The first module introduces the art ecosystem—galleries, institutions, and market dynamics—helping participants position their work professionally. The second module features a Q&A with Claudio Composti, offering insights on approaching galleries and building long-term relationships. What you will learn/do • understand how the international photography and art world operates; • identify your position within the global art ecosystem; • define a long-term career strategy; • review case studies of successful artistic paths; • receive guidance on editing and presenting your portfolio; • learn best practices and common mistakes when approaching galleries; • gain insight into selecting the right gallery and building collaborations; • present and discuss a personal project. Workshop details Open to anyone who has completed or is developing a photographic project. Maximum 15 participants. About the lecturers Wiktoria Michałkiewicz, PhD is interdisciplinary expert and an arts and culture strategist specializing in talent development, global partnerships, and visual arts. She holds five degrees, including a PhD in Sociology, and has contributed to National Geographic, Harper’s Bazaar, and Vogue. She has worked as a producer, agent, and curator with leading photographers such as Deborah Turbeville, James Nachtwey, Sebastião Salgado, and Paul Nicklen & Cristina Mittermeier, and was part of Fotografiska’s expansion to Tallinn and New York. In 2022, she founded REZO, focusing on career strategy, talent development, and art advisory. Based between Lisbon, Warsaw, and Stockholm, she works internationally as a consultant, speaker, and jury member. Claudio Composti is an independent curator and art advisor with nearly 30 years of experience. Founder of mc2gallery (Milan), he works internationally with museums, galleries, and collections, advising on cultural and collection projects. Recent exhibitions include Quayola at M7 Museum (Doha) and Céline Croze at PAC (Milan). He is a frequent portfolio reviewer at major platforms such as Les Rencontres d’Arles and Face à la Mer, and lives between Milan and Paris.
