Introduction to Studio Photography

Ionuț teaches the basics know-how of the studio in this practical module. You will learn about the basic equipment in the studio, practice lighting schemes for portraits and products, and then learn how to edit your images in Lightroom. At the end, you will know the basics of how to photograph in the studio.

What you will learn:

- types of lighting;

- portraiture - framing, basic lighting schemes, types of portraits (headshot, beauty, etc.);

- product - lighting schemes depending on the object, the correlation between light and volume, differences between an object for a website vs. a campaign, etc.

- what tools to use in Lightroom for post-processing;

• Saturday, May 16, 2026, 11:00 - 17:00 - Studio portrait practice

• Tuesday, May 26, 2026, 18:00 - 21:00 - Portrait post-processing

• Saturday, May 30, 2026, 11:00 - 17:00  - Studio product photography practice

• Tuesday, June 2, 2026, 18:00 - 21:00 - Product photography post-processing

Course details:

This is a module from the "Fundamentals of Photography" course and can be taken independently by those interested only in studio photography. The introduction and practices are held in the studio (Studio 82, Luterană 13bis and/or at Opera Studio, Sfinții Apostoli, Bucharest). Post-processing takes place at CdRF.

You must have a digital camera with a detachable lens and a laptop/tablet with Lightroom installed.

Students will be able to use the CdRF studio for individual practice throughout the module, with prior appointment.

About the lecturer, briefly:

Ionuț Staicu is a photographer with a portfolio of over 20 years in advertising, fashion, and product photography. His career began in high school, when he received a Smena camera from his mother, and his passion turned into a refined aesthetic that combines naturalness with the poetry of light. In recent years, Ionuț has focused on food, corporate, and still life photography, maintaining a constant attention to detail and expressiveness.
