About the event
We have opened registrations for a masterclass with Bogdan Gîrbovan, dedicated to photographers interested in conceptualizing and introducing their works to the art market. The event will take place between May 24 - 28, 2025 at the Photography Resources Center (Popa Tatu Street 68, Bucharest).
What does it take to create a photographic work? How does the idea take shape, how do you choose working methods and strategies, and how do you find the right direction to exhibit and sell your projects? These are some of the questions that Bogdan Gîrbovan will answer, sharing his professional experience from 2004–2024.
The masterclass will include:
Portfolio presentation (2004–2024)
Bogdan will go through the most relevant projects of his career, explaining the working styles chosen for each and analyzing 3 concrete case studies.
Methods and strategies in art vs. documentary photography
The differences between the two photographic practices and how the practice is adapted depending on the project will be exposed.
Personal practice vs. commissioned photography
Bogdan will present how he approaches his own conceptual projects and how he approaches commissioned photography (reproductions, product, architecture, documentary).
Print and design media
He will present how he chose print media and some insight into design for works (paintings, books, etc.).
The workshop is aimed at those who want to better understand how to build their art projects in which they work (also) with photography and bring them to the right audience.
Bogdan Gîrbovan is known for his projects that investigate social categories and identities through personal narratives, while exploring the relationship between man and nature.
