1-on-1 Workshop in the Development Room

If you have developed a black and white film, but want to understand how to turn the negative into a quality photo on photographic paper , this 1-on-1 workshop is exactly what you need. For 8 hours , you will work directly with Sorin Florea in the darkroom, learning how to enlarge black and white photos on Ilford RC 20x30 cm paper and advanced exposure and image control techniques. You will refine your eye for detail and learn how to apply dodge & burn – the method used to balance light and shadows in analog prints.

What will you learn?

· Enlarging a black and white photo from a 35mm film – the complete process, from negative to final print.

· Setting the paper exposure – adjusting time and contrast for optimal results.

· Identification and correction of problem areas – detailed image analysis.

· Dodge & burn technique – how to highlight details and control shadows manually.

· Developing their own photography – each participant will create a final print using the techniques learned.

Sorin Florea is a photographer, artist and director of the CdRF gallery, with a strong interest in geographical, cultural and anthropological exploration. He describes photography as a means of telling stories that need to be told, and his works often combine image with sound and video.

Format: Individual workshop (1-to-1)

Recommended level: The workshop is suitable for those who have basic experience with film photography and developing negatives and want to learn darkroom enlargement and printing techniques.
